Old Rundown Building

Posted by
Sundra Tanakoh (......., Ukraine) on 23 February 2011 in Architecture and Portfolio.

A neglected building on a busy street. It appears that this style of "decoration" is the default rundown look.

Maybe at one time it was bright and full of cheer with a little garden and blooming roses. Maybe even people sat outside on a hot summer day and drank juice or beer, ate small shrimps and watched the world pass by. Today, the empty windows watch the world pass by, reflecting the present and dreaming of the past.

Beautiful treatment on this image, a really poetic vision of this old building.

A beautiful earthy shot...love the blue trim on this house
in the heart of winter and the middle of neglect. Super.

Old and abandoned structures are cool, especially the dilapidated ones like this. You can really do a series of shallow depth photography and focus on lines, forms and color. Wonder what had happened here.

@Howard F.: I think when the Soviets left, a sense of belonging left also. Many people had no money what soever when the jobs closed down, some went back to Russia and abandoned their buildings.
