Old Soviet Elevators

Abandoned. Independence happened so many old factories are abandoned, for a country that sits on a set of resources to make it the next Gulf State economy so much is left to ruin. Someday Ukraine will arise once again.

Ooohhh...love this! The colors/tones, the textures, excellently processed. Good job John! I've been slacking with getting out there and taking pics - think I'll head out today for a bit. Enjoy your day!

Gigantic abandoned structures fascinates me, just the lone thought of leaving something that big to rot is beyond me. I mean, I wonder how much money & energy was put into building a structure like this, now leaving to be reclaimed by nature. This photo and the factory all have this sort of video game, wasteland vibe to it. Beautiful shot.

@Howard F.: Thanks. It is kinda strange. The Soviets built many things with concrete that initially looked pretty and modern, but in reality it was just bad cement, so it all fell apart. These huge industrial structures are everywhere, when the Russians left, they LEFT, and the Ukrainians were left with the clean up just like they left Chernoyl. It is a mess, and it is a struggle to clean it up, sort it out and get it running again. There are several places like this in town, outside of the town there are old rotting farm collectives..

Just love this image and your pp, the branches on the left seems a spooky hand while the coloring is just wonderful.
